Bio: Ben Rymer
Ben RymerBen Rymer was one third of legendary Sheffield electro-pop pioneers Fat Truckers, who’s groundbreaking debut album released on Gigolo Records, was one of the most influential releases of the new millennium.
‘The First Fat Truckers Album Is for Sale’ was released in 2003, and was a breath of fresh air against the moribund house scene which prevailed at the time. Containing the classic songs “Teenage Daughter”, “Superbike” and “Multiplex”, the combination of no bullshit northern humour, social commentary, and the band’s ear for a bloody good rave tune, made Fat Truckers the latest in a long line of brilliant electronic music acts to come out of the Steel City.
It also pitched Fat Truckers into a headlong battle with White Stripes for the NME’s coveted Album of the Week, with the Truckers narrowly losing out 9/10 to Jack and Megan’s 10/10 for `Elephant’.
While it may be fair to say the bands didn’t follow the same career trajectory thereafter is possibly true, but Fat Truckers had more than a helping hand in changing the musical landscape at the start of the decade, as anyone who saw their legendary live performances will undoubtedly testify.
Following the demise of Fat Truckers, Ben joined forces with Henry Riton to form Gucci Soundsystem, and together the pair set about re-energising London club land with their infamous Druzzi’s Baltimore Rave Club night, which grew out of a Soho basement, to take over Shoreditch with guests James Murphy, 2ManyDJs, Erol Alkan, The Rapture and many more.
This led to Rymer DJing regularly at Bugged Out and Fabric in London, a residency at Weekend in Berlin, Space in Ibiza, Le Baron in Paris, The Arches in Glasgow and lots more… Last year saw Ben take a more behind the scenes role in music, championing mute records XX-Teens, in a “shouting loudly in your underpants” style of management.
Since then Rymer has got back behind the mixing desk, with his production fingerprints to be found all over Disco Bloodbath’s highly sought-after remixes of Franz Ferdinand, White Lies, Little Boots, The Aliens, Tommie Sparks, Howling Bells and many more.
The irony of silently siphoning cash from the same major labels he used to bait is presumably not lost on Rymer, in fact I think he positively revels in it!
The latest instalment in Rymer’s colourful music career has seen him set up a label with Disco Bloodbath cohort Damon Martin named Channel 83 after the mind altering medium depicted in David Kronenburg’s cult classic Videodrome.
Already in 2010 , Ben has released the Italo inspired La Trinciatrice on Serge Santiago’s Arcobaleno Imprint and it has just been announced that he is to be made a resident at one of Londons best clubs, The T Bar.
Ben Rymer hits T Bar on March 21st alongside the likes of Ashley Beedle and Moodymann.

Music always played a significant role in the Martinez home: the boys grew up playing a variety of instruments - keyboards, bass, and mainly drums and percussion. They'd play in church, at home, in various bands around the Bronx. It was their father, a veteran of disco-era clubs like the Paradise Garage, that turned them on to disco and house, via radio programs like Timmy Regisford's Kiss FM show and CDs that he'd bring home in an attempt to expand the boys' musical worldview.
In 2009 they are already booked to play at the festival Electric Daisy Carnival (Los Angeles), Ministry Of Sound (London), Pacha (Ibiza), Social Club (Paris), Singapore (Zouk) and will also travel to Miami, Sao Paulo, Rio, Milan, Berlin, Tokyo, Lisbon, Amsterdam and beyond.
The Martinez Brothers kicked off a new chapter in January, 2007, when Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity label released "My Rendition," a powerhouse of a record that won them a whole new world of acclaim.
They have gone on to produce their ironically named followup “Debbie Downer” out in January 2009 with Berlin based Greek producer Argy and “Where’s Mr. Brown?” a hissing, techno track.
Both sides have gained much acclaim from DJ’s such as Josh Wink, Dubfire (Deep Dish), Loco Dice and Sebo K.
Joining TMB on the lineup is Berlin based producer Daniel Steinberg. This is going to be BIG.

Bang The Box: Easter Sunday FREE ENTRY Special
Bang The Box is Lovebox's occasional and itinerant heavy-duty underground dance party. Having held one-off parties since 2002 in The Ministry, The End, Bagleys, 93 Ft East and quirky venues around town they're getting set to Bang The Box once more; this time in the bowels of the T-Bar.

This is the first in a series of an ongoing monthly residency with future appearances scheduled from Groove Armada and a host of the Lovebox weekender DJ guests.
The line-up represents some hot new blood as well as leading exponents in their fields; starting with multi-talented production duo Zombie Disco Squad who take House in a new direction with influences from Baile Funk, African rhythms, Baltimore, Hip-Hop, the so-called fidget sound and making it sound fresh and with no cheesy gimmicks.
Next up Faze Action; pioneers of the new-disco sound since the mid 90's and still top of their game as demonstrated with their latest album, ‘Stratus Energy’, widely hailed as one of the most exciting records of 2009.
The Techno angle is well covered with Inxec, whose tracks released on Cocoon get hammered by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, and Luciano; meaning he probably needs no further intro….
Pitching the curve balls will be major all round talent, Sony Radio Award winner, and one of London’s most well known faces on the music scene Mr Ross Allen who's distinguished himself in many fields from DJing to radio presentation, A&R to label management and beyond.
With a similarly eclectic approach to programming come Hot Blood duo Fillary & Butterfield, who having co-founded Lovebox in 2002 have regularly been playing as the Lovebox All-Stars, flying the flag for the festival's underground dance roots.
Finishing up the line-up in fine style with his groove laden energetic mix of techno and house is Jaded resident Mouj, alongside the upcoming Matt Synthia who represents the next generation of DJs familiar with their history and comfortable with crossing genres to devastating dancefloor effect.
Whatever religious or musical persuasion we'll be jacking for Jesus at this free party on Easter Day.

Luca C
Luca C. grew up in Italy where from an early age his love for italo disco, cosmic & classic disco was shaped. About 8 months ago he set up the much loved party ‘ SPANGLES’ in the east end of London, where regular guests have included Damon Martin and Dan Beaumont (Disco Bloodbath) Ali Renault (Heartbreak) Nathan G Wilkins (History Clock | ESP), Severino (Horse meat Disco), Pete Herbert (Reverso 68) and Andy Blake (Dissident).
As a dj Luca has been playing extensively for the past 3 years, bringing his blend of Disco, cosmic, modern Disco and house influenced sounds as far as Japan, Russia and the U.S headlining shows and supporting bigger artists such as Theo Parrish and Frankie Knuckles amongst others.
With Luca’s love for writing and producing music not to be out shined he's recently been involved in co writing Ali Love's new album on Back Yard records with a release date set for later this year and
He’s currently working on remixes as Luca C and Brigante with the first release coming out on ltd 12'' in January through Back Yard for Ali love's new single 'Diminishing returns.
